Making a bolster from three yoga blankets, or other blankets is easy. If you are using Mexican blankets, fold them in quarters so they resemble the three rectangles below. Fold each of these in thirds the long way. Then stack together. Be sure to smooth out any lumps and keep the blankets as uniform on top of each other as you can. The more precise you are with this, the easier time your body will have feeling symmetry in the restorative poses.

We will explore the power of Sankalpa or “Inspired Intention”. It is not just any intention; it is a vow of heartfelt desire and willful determination. Sankalpa is a statement of guidance from our Highest Self, revealed through listening to our inner wisdom. By allowing us to see clearly what we really seek, Sankalpa empowers the mind to move from intention to realization.
The Yoga Garage is a private space in the Macalaster-Groveland neighborhood. The Yoga Garage allows for five students to practice comfortably. This is a great opportunity to get the attention of a private lesson in a small group setting.

In these slow flow classes we will explore how we can clarify the use of our skeletal alignment as a means to generate and increase power in our poses, resulting in the clarification of our intentions. As is customary for Sarah, we will begin with a Feldenkrais inspired warm up. This way of beginning brings a clarity in our movement awareness, and helps to sense the most efficient and easeful way to move the bones. From there, we will move into a more active yoga practice to further understand how our musculature reorganizes during the poses to maintain this ease and sweetness. This slow process will help one move beyond past habitual movements and learn to cultivate an internal initiation during the asanas, even those that we find most challenging. We will end our class with one of Sarah’s popular guided savasana sessions that will soothe your way into the weekend. Each class will focus on a different theme geared towards adapting our bodies to the current season. All levels are welcome.

While group classes can be a source of motivation, a gathering of a community, and exposure to many forms of yoga, there may come a time when we require private care and instruction. Private instruction is great for those newer to yoga, or for one who has experience with group classes but would like to focus on particular challenges or limitations. Your practice will be completely tailored to fit your needs in an open and non-judgemental space. Private sessions are suitable for all ages and abilities as the use of props and modifications are strongly encouraged. Each session is customized to aid the healing of injuries, aches, and pains, or to challenge your strength and learn to safely move deeper into the poses.
Sarah offers private yoga instruction to individual clients and small groups in the comfort of their homes, office, or in her home practice room located near the Minneapolis/St Paul border.
